What we are looking for

We’re looking for performers who bring the spirit of folk cultures from around the world to life. This can be rhythms and musical traditions passed down through generations, dance styles that tell the story of a people, or costumes that express cultural identity. Your performance can be deeply traditional, creatively reimagined, or a vibrant fusion of heritage and originality. What matters most is a connection to cultural roots and the energy to share it with the audience.

Friday 5/6 – Nørrebro

Nørrebro Bloco and lake carnival

A unique street party anyone can join, led by a live samba orchestra with more than 150 musicians and dancers in front.

A "bloco" is a Brazilian carnival street party made famous in Rio de Jainero, where a street party crowd is led by a live samba group, and walks and dances along the streets of the city – sometimes for 2 hours, and sometimes for 2 days without sleep and non-stop partying. In our Nørrebro Bloco we are more than 150 musicians and dancers that leads our street party along the beautiful lakes in Nørrebro and into the sunset on Dronning Louise's Bridge where we continue the party.

It is carnival – and following the more than 2.500 year old tradition, it is the one day of the year where you can wear anything. Dress up, dress down, dress naked if you want, or wear the costume you always wanted. Anything goes. This is carnival!

Saturday 6/6 – City center and Strøget

World Carnival Parade and street shows

Immersive street shows in the city center and the traditional World Carnival Parade through strøget with more than 500 artists.

11.00-13.00 Street shows at different town squares in the city center.13.00-14.00  The parade groups line up at Kongens Nytorv.14.00-16.00  The famous Carnival Parade moves from Kongens Nytorv to Rådhuspladsen through Strøget.

Every year, the Copenhagen World Carnival Parade celebrates the music and dance of the world’s many fantastic folk cultures with a tradiotional parade through the city center. Over 500 artists bring music, dance, and colorful costumes to the heart of Copenhagen when they participate in the more than 40 years old traditional parade that dates back to 1982 when the first parade took place in Copenhagen.

Workshops and talks

Exclusive talks and workshops with artists from the many folk cultures represented in Copenhagen Carnival 2026.

The full program for workshops and talks comes out in May 2026. Monday 8/6Music workshop with the Brazilian female duo and power house Guira Una. Wednesday 10/6Talk and music workshop with Ghanesian super artist King Ayisoba and the Danish composer M. Rexen.

During the weekdays, the carnival shifts from celebration to reflection and exchange. Across different locations in the city, we host talks, workshops, and cultural encounters exploring music, dance, identity, and artistic collaboration across borders. From hands-on rhythm workshops to conversations about culture and creativity, these events invite us to learn from each other and broaden our perspectives.

Copenhagen Culture Carnival

Culture Carnival in the historical park. 30 stage shows, ground performances, open dance floor, dance workshops, and world cuisine.

Copenhagen Carnival's final weekend is in the historical and beautiful park, Enghaveparken, where cultures from across the world bloom together. For two days, the whole park transforms into a colorful meeting place filled with concerts, dance performances, workshops, and international street food. Artists and performers share traditions rooted in folk cultures from around the globe — rhythms, movements, and expressions passed down through generations. It is a joyful and welcoming space for families, friends, dancers, music lovers, and curious minds.
